Interlibrary loan allows Furman students, faculty, and staff to borrow items which the Furman Libraries don't own. Patrons can create an ILLiad account to make requests.

The following items are regularly requested and easily obtained via ILL:

  • Books and chapters published in the US
  • Articles from US and major international journals
  • Music Scores
  • Dissertations

The following items can be borrowed, but usually take longer to obtain:

  • DVDs
  • Audiobooks
  • New books

The following items are very difficult to obtain or make take a particularly long time:

  • Archival material (unless digitized or microfilmed)
  • Books which only a few libraries worldwide own
  • Music CDs
  • International items
  • Some conference papers

The libraries work very hard to fulfill every ILL request as quickly as possible. If you ever have a question or problem, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at 864-294-2198 or via email.
